I've been trying to get back into some writing lately, but haven't know whether to concentrate on fiction or non-fiction.  Plus, I spend so much of my day at work writing in a "brand-friendly" way that by the time I get home it's kind of like no brain cells left my own writing.

I think I should spend sometime looking for writing prompts or recommitting myself to my 10 minute prompts.

The Emmys kind of suck tonight.  Bleh.  Why do they let Ryan Seacrest host anything like this?  They need someone with a discernible talent besides being a tool to host shows like this.

I'm leaving for Florida in the morning. Screw midterms. My grandpa fell down today and couldn't get up. They took him to the hospital and found out he has a very bad flu which may have caused him to have a second stroke. My grandma is down at their winter condo by herself so my aunt and I are flying down tomorrow to be with them.

Back to regularly scheduled programming...
Current Mood: drained

Well, I'm supposed to be asleep but... Feb. 13th, 2005 @ 11:34 pm
every time I lay down, my coughing gets worse. I hate being sick. I haven't been this sick with an ear infection in years.

The good hour I had today was when Jinnie, Karen, and Jen called. Then I fell alseep and left my AIM open so kept hearing that annoying noise. And now I'm up for another half hour at least waiting for my decongestant to kick.

Basically I'm whining because I hate being sick. I don't know how I'll make it through class.

What a romantic way to spend Valentine's Day. Hee--I just thought of that now.

Anyone else having problems getting onto sd-1, or is it just my retarded computer?

I'm so tired I must go to bed before I drop.

Oh my God, there are no words. I just found out that they are finally releasing season one of The Pretender on DVD in the US in March of this year.

My prayers have finally been answered. I can't believe I just heard about this tonight.
» Long weekend...
This weekend was supposed to be a relaxing week up north for me and three friends, but a snowstorm decided to come through on Saturday. We went south instead to one friend's apartment, and it took five hours to drive home, which is normally a almost-2 hour drive because of icy road conditions.

I'm catching up with e-mail, etc. I feel so deprived after two days without the Internet.

Everyone can ignore this post:

Jen, can you see me? lol

Do flying spiders exist? Because I think I just found one. Ewww and ick.

And I didn't kill the damn thing so it's still around here somewhere. Again, eww...
» Football crack...

Yay for my Vikings!  Culpepper is the best quarterback in the NFL right now, and wow we had a defense today.  Five turnovers by the Titans but not one touchdown.  Oh, I miss you, you old man kicker Gary Anderson.  I love the old man kickers.  I think we play NY Giants next week at home--hopefully you'll be back in full force, Mr. Moss.  We missed you today, but who knew we could carry the football so well.  So proud of our gameball rookie running back!

Maybe if Favre and his Packers had played like they are in this weeks first half they wouldn't be 2-4!  Because you know--we're #1 in the NFC now with a one game lead at 5-1.

Hey Denni Green--how's life down in Arizona?  Ha--I love Mike Tice.  So glad you're gone, Mr. Green!

Football=crack.  I can't watch the baseball tonight either--Cards need to win and really don't need to sit through Bennifer Part Deux again.  Not that I don't wish Miss Garner the best, but I like my sports and Hollywood couples I avoid separate.  I did like Dogma--that was a good movie.  Everything Affleck did after that, not so much.  It is funny to watch people go crazy about it though on the different boards.

I need to write a paper and life sucks because I can't do it.  Can.not.do.it.

Dear NFL,

Football is my crack, and you are my supplier.  You should be ashamed of yourself!

Sincerely, Lisa

I went to lunch with the family at a sports bar, and they had four NFL games on at once.  We were there for two hours--had the pleasure of watching the Packers self-destruct.  That's always fun, but I may eat my word as my own Vikes have a tendency to do the same thing after a good game the week before.

I have to write a lexicon that I'm avoiding like the plague.  Oh, and Jen, I hope you finished your paper alright.  Persecute, remember? ;)

» Jay Leno amuses me...

"John Kerry unveiled his newest campaign slogan: 'A mind is a terrible thing to make up."'

That was in the monologue last night, and since I'm neither Democrat or Republican, I have the right to enjoy jokes at either of the candidates' expense.  Besides, Leno was dead on with that one.

So third week of school, too much to do and too little time.  I'm off for my second group project of the week.  I'm still pissed because my tape at the Joey ep last week.  Oh well, no new shows for me this fall I guess.

» More important things than myself...
So I had typed up this whole long entry about what a hell of a strange day I have had, and then I looked at the clock. It's officially September 11th here now, and I erased everything that I was going to post.

Thinking about 9/11 still makes me cry. We had a really nice memorial service today on campus.

My thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of the vicitms who died in New York, DC, and on those planes. My prayers are with our entire country today.

Don't mind me as I panic! School starts tomorrow! AHHHHH!!!!

Classes all day from nine am until 4pm, with a few breaks in between thankfully. I need to go to bed but I won't sleep, I just know it.

I'm not ready to go back to thinking and reading and studying. Ahhh, again!

This is not my deepest post but seriously--feel the panic!
» Leaving on a jet plane...

Whew, 36 hours of work is finally over, and I"m officially done with my summer job.  Not much to say but goodbye to everyone for the week.  I'll be back next Wednesday but until them I'm on vacation!  Yay me!

Hope everyone has a fantastic week.

» A little bit of everything...

This is my second night in a row working overnight.  I am done working in about an hour and the little charges are sleeping soundly, so here I sit with nothing to do.

This week was extremely busy, but surprisingly pleasant.  A guy from school called completely out of the blue last Monday and asked me out to dinner.  Now said guy is a Marine who happens to be leaving in two weeks to train on the East Coast for six months.  Now Mr. Marine and myself were hanging out a lot at the end of spring semester but never really pursued anything because of his leaving at the end of August.  Now, it's the end of August and we are going out again.  Nothing good can come of this, I keep telling myself.  But he's so nice, and it's been a long time since I've been out on an actual date.  And he paid for supper!  That's a big plus in my book.  I guess we'll see what happens in the next two weeks--one of which I will be out of town for.

On a completely unrelated note, online fandoms are a weird, weird place.  Okay, the Alias fandom is the only fandom I am active in because it was the first time I met a number of funny, caring, and intellegent people who aren't afraid to dive into the gutter now and then.  But I always maintained a strick lurker mode at all the Buffyverse boards I belong to.  So today was the epitome of weirdness.  Buffy/Angel fans (Bangels) and Spike/Buffy fans (Spuffys) were just going at each other all over the online fandom, saying nasty and incoherant accusations that made absolutely no sense

NFL Preseason Football on ABC right now! Woo-hoo! I have nothing more to say, football is back, baby!

I am just absolutely shocked and saddened right now.  I've been working so much that I haven't been around to return e-mails or check my voice mail, so I was surprised when a friend from college called from out of state.  She called to tell me that I needed to go look at the website of our university.  It turns out one of our fellow students, and someone I had known fairly well, was killed Sunday in a car accident.

Wow, I can't even process this.  He was a great guy--he was always laughing and tossing a football around.  He was going into his last year of his undergrad studies in a little over three weeks when we went back to school.  They are having a service tomorrow so I had to call and take off work like ten minutes ago.  No wonder my phone has been ringing off the hook.

I can't believe this has happened.  And he has two sisters at our university too.  I don't even know what to say at this point.

» Le Tour de Minnesota

Just got off the phone with my father and he has finished the first leg of their five day ride.  He's tired from an apparent motel and food delay they had last night.  They rode 82 miles today, and have about 60 or more tomorrow.  I'm glad he's still alive after the fairly warm today.

I'm attempting to open my mind and watch the Democratic National Convention.  My first time voting for a president is fast approaching and I figure I should be aware of both sides.  If I see a Clinton I will run though.  I have certain limitations coming from the conservative family I do.

I had breakfast with my uncle this morning and we got to talking about Alias.  He's the only other person in my family who watchs the show besides me.  He was talking about how he hadn't watch the season finale even though it was taped and sitting on top of his television set.  He said he just couldn't get as involved with the stories and characters this last season.  He's a Chevy too!  He hates that "boring as hell" wife.  He didn't know about the delay until January until I told him though! I felt bad for him but it made me concerned about Alias losing viewers from the delay.  Oh well, there's not much to do about it.
